Avery Heights, Greater Hartford’s premier retirement community, is tucked away atop Hartford’s Cedar Mountain. Your senses say rural Connecticut, but you’re in the heart of Greater Hartford, on a park-like, hilltop 43-acre expanse. Home to beautiful apartments, cozy cottages, and a wealth of healthcare services and personal choices, Avery Heights is conveniently situated only minutes from Downtown Hartford’s arts and restaurant district, and the energy and excitement that are West Hartford Center. The Avery Heights campus enjoys picturesque views of both the downtown skyline and Avon Mountain, while providing opportunities for privacy and independence within a vibrant community.

Living at Avery Heights is about choices, facilities and services that preserve quality of life and independence. We offer the financial flexibility of renting with the confidence of priority access to a full continuum of care, including home health care, assisted living, adult day health care, short term rehabilitation, long term intermediate and skilled nursing care, and outpatient rehabilitation services.

Dedicated to a vision of wellness and independence, Avery’s “Reaching New Heights” offers a supervised exercise program held in a state of the art fitness center that enables participants to follow an individualized exercise plan developed by Avery’s exercise physiologist. Residents are making full use of the recently completed walking trails and will also be able to stay fit by using the pool in the newly built Marjorie B. Doty Aquatic Center. Avery offers transportation to all the major medical centers and offices. For those who prefer, we are pleased to offer the option of using on campus primary care physician and dental services in the Center for Well-Being at Avery.

Avery’s active social and cultural activities and personally tailored fitness offerings lift the spirit, stimulate the mind and rejuvenate the body and soul. The Senior Seminar Series offers college level continuing education lectures. Each seminar is a series of four lectures by eminent speakers from academia, business and government. The Premier Concert Series, held in Avery’s Julia Gilman Clark Memorial Chapel, draws from the local and international artists in the Capitol region. Our libraries, Villager Gift Shop, Pear Tree Food Shop, resident computer center and hair salon all add to the enhancement of life at Avery Heights.
